The importance of critique
I talked about print competition awhile back in this post and today I just had a chance to watch a wonderful online critique of two photographers that I want to share with all of you. I know I talk about him endlessly, but if you are a photographer add Zack Arias’s Blog to your blogroll. Not only is he a fantastic photographer and a wonderful person, he endlessly gives back his time and talent to the photographic community. The best money you will ever spend on a workshop is his One Light Workshop. If you can’t swing that, buy the DVD.
Imagine my glee and surprise when I found out today Zack took on Wisconsin’s own David E Jackson, a dear friend and a freaking fantastic photographer. Years ago on an online forum, this cop-turned-photographer yahoo from the Fox Valley posted his first wedding for critique and when I looked through the images my jaw dropped. Then I thought…SHIT…there go my Fox Valley weddings
Kidding….kind of. Then I met him and it’s impossible to not like the guy. This is a great critique because Zack reviews a newbie photographer and then Dave, and it’s a nice parallel to see if you are starting out and have trouble figuring out if you suck or not.
Emo music. Dave, it’s gots to go….
